The new record, of Jennifer Higdon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning violin concerto for Hilary, and the Tchaikovsky concerto, is out!

Hilary’s latest album release, Higdon & Tchaikovsky Violin Concertos, debuted at the number one position on Billboard’s Classical Overall and Classical Traditional charts after its release on September 21, 2010. The Classical Overall chart includes crossover artists such The Priests and Andrea Bocelli. In addition to its success on the charts, Higdon & Tchaikovsky Violin Concertos exceeded Hilary’s previous opening-week sales records, with 46% occurring in digital form. It has remained in the top 10 every week since.

Released on the Deutsche Grammophon label, the album features the world premiere recording of Jennifer Higdon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Violin Concerto, written specifically for Hilary. Jennifer was Hilary’s 20th-Century Music instructor at the Curtis Institute, in addition to being an alumnus of the school herself. The concerto, hailed by the Baltimore Sun as “tailor-made to the violinist’s unflappable technique and musical depth,” appears along with Hilary’s fresh take on the monumental Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.
